Welcome!

Welcome to the Blue Eyed Soul Dance Company blog for 'Sepia', our exciting Small Festival of Dance taking place in 2009.

Blue Eyed Soul are a pioneer in the development of inclusive dance practice in the UK; embracing 'difference' and producing exemplary creative partnerships between disabled and non-disabled people of all ages.

Since 1994 the Company has created a distinctive and authentic dance repertoire, education and training programmes that have earned it recognition and acclaim locally, nationally and internationally.

This year marks the bi-centenary of the birth of Charles Darwin, who was born and schooled in Shrewsbury. We are joining in the towns celebrations with a range of activities:

  • Primary school tour of newly commissioned work 'Where the Wind Blows' directed by Battina Strickler: March – May 2009

  • Workshops and taster sessions: April 2009 – May 2009

  • A double bill of 'Where the Wind Blows' and our Community Performance premiere 'Be-Longing' in the Theatre Severn Walker Theatre: 17th June 2009, 2pm & 7pm

  • Newly commissioned Aerial Dance Performance 'TAKE; a dance in the park' in the Quarry Park: July 4th 2009

'From old family albums to online social networks Sepia distorts, manipulates and enhances our family lines through evocative contemporary dance'
